SQUADRON AWARDS
Squadron awards are presented to deserving individuals at the end of the training year. Nominations are heavily based on attendance and participation which are recorded for every cadet event. Personal qualities such as integrity, discipline, and leadership are also looked at when considering nomations.
Top First, Second, Third, and Fourth Year Cadet
These awards are given to the most outstanding first, second, third, and fourth year cadet in the squadron. The recipient must have performed well in class and served as a role model for the other cadets in the Level. They must have good attendance and have participated in numerous extra-curricular training activities. They must have achieved high uniform marks and have demonstrated good personal deportment throughout the year
Most Improved Cadet
This award is presented to the cadet that has shown the highest amount of improvement in overall attitude, and deportment throughout the year. This cadet has shown willingness to learn and advance and takes corrective criticism positively and continues to work on weak areas. This individual has made the most progress since the beginning of the training year.
Top Range Cadet
This award is presented to the top performing range cadet. The recipient has shown dedication and have advance their skills in this chosen team or discipline
Top Effective Speaking Speaking
This award is presented to the top performing effective speaking cadet. The recipient has shown dedication and have advance their skills in this chosen team or discipline
Top First Aid Member (no longer awarded)
This award is presented to the top performing first aid team cadet. The recipient has shown dedication and have advance their skills in this chosen team or discipline
Top Band Cadet (no longer awarded)
This award is presented to the top performing band cadet. The recipient has shown dedication and have advance their skills in this chosen team or discipline
Top Jr and Sr NCO
These awards are presented to the most efficient and outstanding Junior/Senior NCO. The recipient must be a good follower/leader and must be reliable when carrying out tasks assigned by superiors. They must work well as part of a team and must have worked to develop their own leadership skills by getting to know their followers, motivating them and helping them to improve. They must have achieved high uniform marks and have demonstrated good personal deportment throughout the year.
The Training Officer's Instructional Technique Award
This award is presented to the squadron's top instructor. The recipient must have demonstrated a creative and appealing instructional style. They must have consistently delivered well-planned and well-organized lessons. They must have encouraged participation among their cadets and ensured that their classes were active and interesting, using a variety of training aides.
Fellowship Award
This award is chosen by the cadets, the fellowship is presented to the cadet who puts forward the forward the most effort, as judged by their peers. The recipient is seen as worthy of recognition for the amount of effort they put into the squadron.
Air Commodore G. Truscott's Memorial Award
This award is presented to the squadron’s overall top cadet. This cadet who has shown undeniable dedication to the squadron and has the highest participation in squadron activities. This individual has worked to develop their followers and taken initiative to improve the sqn as a whole. This cadet has participated in a variety of training activities, and has demonstrated outstanding effort throughout the year. They have achieved high uniform marks and demonstrated good personal deportment throughout the year. They are enthusiastic and dedicated, and serve as a role model to other cadets. They have also contributed to the development and mentorship of their peers, improving the Squadron as a whole.
